Day 131 - Travelling From Aorogwe To Dar Es Salaam

Today was an early start & breakfast by 5am, we were on the truck by 6am with another big day of travelling. Today we wouldn't even stop for lunch & had to make sandwiches to eat for lunch when we made our breakfast.
Just before 7am Tom woke me up from my nap, to show me the sunrise which was a vibrant colour of orange that cast light across the fields & trees which were a very deep green. A huge highlight of Africa is the amazing sunrises & sunsets.

The drive passed by very uneventfully with the same obstacles slowing us down as yesterday. We had both eaten our packed lunches by 9.30am which left us full of regret at lunch time. We arrived at the city of Dar Es Salaam around 1pm but faced some of the most horrendous traffic I gave ever seen. It took us 90 minutes to get through the town & past the harbour to our campsite. The waiting in traffic was well worth the beautiful sight that greeted us.

The ocean!!
A beautiful section of beach lay before us, with fine white sand & clear aqua water. After we set up our tents we put on our bathers & went for a swim. It's amazing how different the temperature is here, it's quite warm & the water is pleasant. After our swim we relax with Phil, Nathalie, Noria & some red wine.
There is talk later of checking out the bar & sampling the cocktails. Of course the talking became an actual act & much later at the bar we watched a lunar eclipse. I would later look this up & find out we witnessed the centuries longest total lunar eclipse. Basically the moon passed through the centre of the earths shadow. It was very cool & I'm happy we saw it & can remember it!
