Day 235 - Rayong To Chiang Mai

We all wake up with reluctance.Tom & Dom are still very drunk from the night before, despite noisily making an instant noodle feast at 3am.
Today we have a rough plan to get to Chiang Mai! A destination that all 4 of us have been really excited to get to.
First things first, we need to eat breakfast, pack, clean & check out before 12pm. We only just manage to do this on time & then gather next to the pool to organise our lives.

It's rather last minute preparations to get to Chiang Mai & we've missed out on the overnight train tickets. None of us are keen on travelling by train during the day, which is a waste of day, so we book a flight from nearby Pattaya to Chiang Mai, book some of the first accommodation we see & a transfer from Rayong to the airport.
The last minute scramble of organisation is definitely not ideal from a time perspective or a financial perspective & I'm quite grumpy & frustrated.
I did ask yesterday if this could all be done, but anyway. The important thing is that we get to Chiang Mai.

The transfer, apart from being an extortionate rip off, goes smoothly. They initially asked for around 3,500 baht, but Nat managed to talk them down to 1,600 baht. However, if we'd organised it the day before, it would have been 850 baht.

Our plane departs around 5pm & we've arrived around 3pm, too early to check our bags in!
We get some food & watch some Netflix, until it's time to check our bags in & go through security.
Everything's all straight forward & before long we are on the plane, in the emergency exit seats with extra leg room.

The flight is very short & we've arrived in Chiang Mai after a little bit more than an hour.
Collecting our luggage was easy & before long were getting into a Grab & heading towards our accommodation.
The Royal Guesthouse, one of the first accommodation options I saw when looking on Air BnB. It looks nice enough on the photos & the description sounds like what we need.
We arrive & check in. I'm excited by the pool, communal chill out area, tour options on display & the 2 resident cats!
The rooms, have much to be desired & the description on Air BnB does not match what we are looking at.  Tom & I are now pretty comfortable anywhere we go & with more pressing concerns, like dinner, we temporarily forget about it.

We find dinner a few streets away & order a few bowls of veggies, noodles & soup to share.
After dinner, Nat & Dom go for a wander through the streets.  Tom & I are feeling less adventurous & head back to the hotel.
