Our first day in Luang Prabang is spent pretty low key.
We need to organise our Vietnam online visa & book our initial Vietnam accommodation. I'm also not feeling great today, which is another reason for our laziness.

We go for a couple of small walks around town for brunch & get an early dinner. The crowds at the night market today are considerably smaller & easier to negotiate. Tom has been eyeing off some more hippy pants that are made from a thicker & more durable material than the ones we saw in Thailand. He buys 3 different designs & is very smitten with them, I get a feeling that I wont be seeing his legs for a long time.
We discover a man who is selling baguettes, with fried egg, cheese, avocado & salad for 20,000 kip.
These baguettes are amazing!
They are nearly as long as my arm & very fresh.
We've noticed a few times in Laos that they cook fantastic baguettes & have also noticed the bagels & croissants on the menus. Not to mention all the bakeries & cake stores !
A quick Google tells me that the French did occupy Laos until 1954, when they gained their independence.
This would explain the amazing bread, the fact that some Laos locals speak French, the French colonial architecture & the reason why we have seen so many French people!
It's like when we experienced Germany from Namibia in Africa.
The day is relatively quiet but we completed a lot of life admin!
