Day 243 - Our Last Day In Thailand

It was just before 10am when my brain first unstricted my eyelids to open. I had no idea what The time was & I was shocked it was so late & we had both slept so long! It was a real sleep in & we weren't hungover. This has not happened in a very long time.
We both felt very refreshed & relaxed.

We made some quick plans to catch up on a few things & get ready to enter country number 23 tomorrow.  We researched some cafe's & restaurants locally, packed a day bag & set off hand in hand.
It was a beautiful sunny day in Chiang Rai, there was a slight cool breeze skimming our skin & the lazy Sunday effect was obvious on the whole town & not just us, from our sleep in.

We found a small, cute coffee shop 2 streets away, with some of the fastest internet we had seen since Rayong !
It was called pastel coffee & we settled in under the hanging pothos plants, with 2 iced latte's. The owner was lovely & seemed very happy to have customers on a Sunday morning.

We sat here till just after midday, when our tummies could be heard rumbling complaints. We then walked the 2 kilometres into the town centre to hunt down a burger restaurant Tom had found. On our way we passed by some small temples & some ornate clocks that were set in the round about's. There was a small white one & a rather large flashy gold one right in the middle of the city.

The burgers were AMAZING! Tom got a veggie patty & cheese on a fresh onion & herb roll. I got a mushroom & avocado on a fresh blue pea bun.
We then continued on to the next coffee shop, which thankfully had air con ! The afternoon has brought with it a whole world of heat & humidity.

We spent quite a few hours in this coffee shop updating the November/Thailand budget, booking accommodation in Laos & updating the blog.
Today, with the help of good internet, I published 10 new blogs!
We left the coffee shop just before 5pm feeling very accomplished! The walk home was really nice & the temperature had dropped dramatically. I suspect it will storm & just as we hit the driveway to our accommodation, I felt the first little drops of rain.
We've been incredibly lucky with the weather while in Thailand.

Once in our room, we straight away started a work out, something we haven't done in weeks.
We've been promising ourselves that as soon as we say goodbye to Nat & Dom, the holiday from our holiday will be over. It's a sober month, of eating healthy & with correct portions, more exercise, both cardio & resistance.
We weighed ourselves yesterday & the truth is that were both the definition of skinny fat.
Tom's lost 13 kilos of muscle & I've gained 4 kilos of fat, while loosing muscle. 2 years ago we were in our prime! We're not going back to Australia in our current bodies & starting gym from the very bottom again.
We did a 15 minute body weight regime focused on our legs & finishing with a 2 minute plank. It absolutely killed us! Our legs were total jelly. It felt amazing though. Exercise is feeling & looking good, it's something we've always done together & miss.
We're both looking forward to this next 3 months of healthy living.

Straight after this, it was time for our last dinner in Thailand. We just ate at the hostel & it goes without saying that we had pad-thai, as well as a green curry & a stir fried veg.
The wife/owner here is an amazing cook!  I wonder what the food in the next country will be like...
