We were awoken by Dom who was hammering on our door at 7.15am to wake up & get ready.
Our bus to Chiang Rai was booked & destined to leave at 8.30am.
It was a struggle to get out of bed, pack & get ready! The hangover was real & all 4 of us were suffering.
We only just made it to the bus station in time, but once we were there the bus waited around longer than the expected 8.30am departure.
We all collapsed into our seats & were getting comfortable, hoping to sleep the journey & our hangovers away.
Unfortunately that proved not to be the easiest thing for me. My seat was broken & kept reclining back too far & disrupting the people sitting behind me. I couldn't seem to fix it, so I had to try & sit forward so that the chair didn't recline.
At some point during the short journey, i fell asleep & leaned back in my chair, which then reclined back. When I woke up, I could tell the french couple were not happy. If eyes were daggers, I would have been stabbed a lot that morning.
We arrived in Chiang Rai just before lunch. it was ridiculous hot & bright. We organised a Grab & went to our hostel accommodation. Tom & I had booked this accommodation at a backpackers, when we booked the Laos trip & weren't expecting Nat & Dom to still be with us.
Unfortunately the hostel was all booked, which meant Nat & Dom had to find different accommodation.
We are all pretty seedy & decided to have the afternoon off to recover & meet back up tomorrow to plan a big day of sight seeing in & around Chiang Rai.
