Day 56 - Beijing

Beijing,

We both woke up refreshed & relaxed, knowing we had a full day dedicated to catching up on online obligations.

We planned & hoped would be productive & easy. Our first priority is to accumulate all the photos & videos from the 2 phones, DSLR camera & the Go-Pro on to the laptop in dated & numerical folders before saving them to Onedrive. This system means if any of our technology devices are stolen or damaged, even the laptop, we don't lose our memories. This proved to be a huge job & only half successful, our Samsung phones always put up a fight when it comes to syncing to my Mac laptop. I managed to publish 4 days of blog updates & post 8 days of instagram photos, substantially less than I wanted complete. Poor Tom only manages to update half of the budget spreadsheet before the Mac wants to do an update.

The internet again proved to be slow & uncooperative with our VPN constantly dropping out. Another factor is that we both have to share the laptop, not entirely a problem, as one person becomes too frustrated the laptop changes operators & it's the next person's turn to battle technology.

We stopped at midday for a lunh break, not wanting to risk a disappointing lunch we both agree on Subway, thoroughly enjoying our foot long subs & cookies. On our return to our hotel room we are confronted by a terrible smell wafting from the bathroom. I immediately blame Tom, but he is proved innocent by the shower drain which is actively gurgling & producing the horrid smell. Earlier that day we had realised the bathroom had not been cleaned in a long time & cigarette butts, clumps of hair & soap scum had appeared out of the drain. Luckily we always wear our thongs in hotel showers.

The day disappears quickly & we both agree on an early night.
