Today we leave Bakky's guesthouse & the national park. I'm a bit sad to be leaving, the national park is stunning and the horse riding has been a huge highlight for us.
We drive through the fields disturbing herds of horses & yaks. We drive through many rivers & streams, revitalized from the recently melted snow. The mountain tops are now glistening green & brown, the last of the snow now gone. We drive up and down mountains & through pine tree forests, the dominate feature of the ever changing landscape.
It takes us a few hours before we exit the national park & a couple hours after that we arrive at our next destination.
The Tsenkher Hot Springs, located in Arkhangai Province, the remains of many extinct volcanoes in the area. Knowing we were heading to the hot springs was something that gave us much hope while our legs throbbed from the horse riding.
The hot springs are normally 86 degrees C when the water is first pumped out of the ground. It is then mixed with cold water & used to fill up 4 large spa pools. After moving out stuff into our hotel room, we made our way down to the hot spring. It was exactly what our muscles needed. The water was still very hot & the sun was shining bright, after 10 minutes in the pool you had to remove your lobster coloured body out & sit in the cold air to cool down. A few cold beers also helped to regulate our body temperature.
We had been in the pool about an hour when the wind started to pick up strength & blow dust down the mountain on to us. We decided to get out of the pool & retire to our accommodation for a nap before dinner.
Unfortunately after dinner the sky had transformed to a red, dusty haze & the wind was stronger again. We couldn't use the hot pools as planned, so we opted for more sleep!
No complaints from us.
